Run for a Reason

If you’re a competitive runner, a casual walker, or you just want to support a worthy cause, the Run for Rwanda 5K is the race for you. You can test your late-summer fitness on our mostly flat 5K course or just enjoy Cottonwood Creek’s tree-lined trails and stunning view of the Front Range.

The race follows a fast, accurate 5K (3.1 mile) route, contained entirely within Cottonwood Creek park. The running surface is mostly dirt paths, with a few paved walkways. The finish is on the park's grass soccer fields.

Race Origins

Some members of the International Anglican Church visited Rwanda last summer and encountered the needs firsthand.(Some of us started many of our days running with locals through the Rwandan countryside.) This event and the programs it benefits have been planned in cooperation with Rwandan community leaders with whom IAC members have established strong relationships.

Race Format

The race includes both individual and team-challenge divisions. Run to meet your personal time or fitness goals or gather a group of friends, colleagues, church members, or high school teammates and compete in one of our team divisions (max eight per team; team scores are determined by the first three finishers’ times).

Awards will be presented in the following categories:
